Shapes, colours and flavours
Different markets require different types. There is the typically Hungarian pointed pepper, for instance, but also the flavoursome sweet pointed pepper and the tricolore, fruits that weigh around 90 g each. Then there are peppers in various types and sizes, like the Turkish sivri, the Arabic fine pepper and the Chinese large pepper.
Perfect quality
Rijk Zwaan peppers are characterised by their excellent firmness and a glossy, bright colour. In our breeding work for the NW European market we make very sure that our varieties are less susceptible to internal rot, so that customers are not disappointed when they use the product. And it goes without saying that a high yield is a first requirement.
Market opportunities
Rijk Zwaan is always looking for new market opportunities and when it comes to that it does not sidestep any challenges: reliable, productive and labour-friendly varieties. But we also look for new products for new markets, like the sweet, pointed peppers for NW Europe and improved varieties of the peppers that are so popular in China.
